A Time When I Acheived A Personal Success

I am Sarah Abdullah and I would like to tell you a tale that makes me proud of who I am. Actually I come from a family that is not concerned much with the education among the female children. But since I was persistent to finish my studies, I was allowed to complete my Form Five. I did quite well in my exams. But unfortunately I was asked to marry a man chosen by my family.

After fifteen years of marriage and having six children, now I have given the opportunity to pursue my studies in this college.

The first day that I arrived at Dar- al Hikmah, I felt really insignificant as the rest of my classmates had carriers or fields that they specialized in. I was only a housewife who is only continuing her studies after fifteen years being at home.

I was left behind as I registered late and half a semester had already passed. I also faced the problem where some of the seniors were cynical of me. I had to beg to be included in groupings. The semester ended with my poor performance of getting only a CGPA of 3.01.

On the day my friends received their Dean’ List awards, I sat in the front row and the first chair just looking at them. Deep in my heart, I promised to myself that one day I too, will receive this awards.

When the second semester started, I treasured my time and spent every minutes if it to study and revise my lessons. Every assignment that was given to me was done to the best of my ability. Then it the time for exams. As always, before the day itself, I performed my Dhuha prayers and prayed that Allah would grant me my wish after my earnest hard work.

At last when I saw my results, I almost cried as I knew that Allah has answered my prayers. I obtained a CGPA of 3.64 and my names was listed in the Dean’ List and my results were better than those who looked down upon me. I am truly thankful to Allah for His blessing on me.

Now I am more confident and I will not stop from striving to be better than before as I know : DETERMINATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS!
